With the Golden State Warriors, he won the NBA Championship in 2022. He was also included in the annual NBA ‘All-Star Game’ in 2022. He was picked 1st overall in the 1st round of the 2014 NBA Draft, by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This had made him just the 2nd Canadian ever to be selected 1st overall in an NBA Draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers had traded him in the pre-season to the Minnesota Timberwolves and he never got to play for the franchise that had picked him 1st overall in the draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers would have rued trading him though, as he went on to win the ‘NBA Rookie of the Year’ award in 2015. He was also included in the ‘NBA All-Rookie First Team’ that year. Representing Canada, he had won the ‘Bronze’ medal at the 2010 Hamburg FIBA (Fédération internationale de basket-ball) World Under-17 Cup, the 2012 São Sebastião do Paraíso FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship, and the 2015 Mexico City FIBA AmeriCup.
