Frank Ocean's Younger Brother Dies In Car Crash In California

Ryan Breaux, the 18-year-old brother of R&B singer Frank Ocean, reportedly died in a car crash in Thousand Oaks, California, on Sunday. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the single-vehicle collision took place at 1:33 am. When officers arrived, the vehicle, which had two occupants, was engulfed in flames.

Authorities said, "The vehicle appeared to leave the roadway and collide with a tree in the center median." Both the driver and the passenger died at the scene. Although the accident is still under investigation, Deputy Wendell Campbell told reporters that speed may have been a factor in the fatal crash. The car was reportedly “severely damaged” and “cut in half on impact.”

The Sheriff’s Office still hasn’t confirmed the identities of the two occupants, but their classmates at Oaks Christian School told CBS2/KCAL9 that the victims were Breaux and Ezekial “Zeek” Bishop. In addition, Dr. Fred L. Hodge, Bishop’s grandfather, confirmed the young man’s death on his church's social media page.

Soon after the accident, actor Pierce Brosnan’s son, Paris Brosnan, 19, shared photos and screenshots of text messages between himself and Breaux, along with a message in which he expressed his gratitude for Breaux’s friendship and the time they spent at Ocean’s studio. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee‘s son Brandon, 24, also paid tribute to Breaux.

Actress Holly Robinson Peete also remembered Breaux and Bishop on Instagram, writing, "Another life gone way too soon. Rest in peace young king @rryanbreaux. Too soon to have such a bright light extinguished 💔💔💔🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽sending prayers of strength to mom and big bro. And to the family and loved ones of Zeke Bishop. Just crushing news. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽"

Breaux was popular on social media, where he often updated fans on his brother’s career. Ocean, whose birth name is Christopher Breaux, also shared a sister with Breaux, Ashley “Nikkii” Ellison. Their mother, Katonya Breaux, who founded Unsun Cosmetics in 2016, introduced her children to music at a young age.

In a 2017 interview with Billboard, Ocean and his mother spoke about Breaux’s love for his brother’s music. “Ryan will put those songs on repeat 50 times a day. I would definitely say Ryan, and I’m number two,” she said when asked who Ocean’s biggest fans were.
