Country music star Chris Lane and reality TV personality Lauren Bushnell married in 2019, but how did the two first meet?
The two met at a radio awards show back in 2016, though their romance did not begin instantly. The couple first went public about their relationship in 2018 and married the following year.

Chris Lane is a well-known country music singer, with two number one hits under his belt. His song ‘Fix’ topped the charts in 2016, while another of his tracks, ‘I Don’t Know About You’, achieved the same feat in 2019.
His music, he says, has evolved as he has matured. “With my first record, I was trying to figure out exactly what kind of sound I wanted to have, and now I know. I know what I truly love and what kind of artist I want to be,” he writes on his official website.
In 2017, he was nominated for an ACM award for new male vocalist of the year.
Lauren Bushnell
Lauren Bushnell first came to prominence when she featured in season 20 of ‘The Bachelor’. She was one of the female contestants to compete for the affections of Ben Higgins.
Bushnell was the ultimate victor, with her and Higgins becoming engaged. The two went on to star in their own reality show, ‘Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?’, which detailed their lives after the end of ‘The Bachelor’.
The two called an end to their relationship the following year, releasing the news with a joint statement that claimed that they would remain friends. “We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time,” the statement read.
Bushnell has since spoken about the split, explaining her feelings towards the end of ‘The Bachelor’ season, when she was aware that the engagement may be imminent.
“I remember having so much anxiety about it, which looking back, I don’t know if that was my gut being like, wait, timing-wise, this is too rushed or what,” she told E Online.
Chris Lane & Lauren Bushnell’s Relationship
Following their initial meeting at an iHeart Radio awards show, the couple initially became friends. “We just so happened to be at the same event where I was playing a show,” Lane says.
The two met again by chance in Nashville shortly after. “I ran into him and some of his friends in Nashville a while ago, and just kind of developed a friendship,” Bushnell told Hollywood Life.
The two visited the Bahamas together in 2018, alongside a group of friends, and their romance blossomed. Later that year, they attended the BMI country awards together, and the two spent time together during the holidays.
Lane and Bushnell’s romance developed quickly. “[Lauren] and I have been hanging out not even that long, but realized we both like each other,” Lane told People magazine near the beginning of their relationship.
With Lane spending much of his time on the road touring, the couple has found ways to manage their time together. “We have to plan ahead a little bit,” Lane says “But we both decided we would do whatever to make it work.”
In the summer of 2019, Lane proposed to Bushnell in their backyard, using a romantic song to help him. ‘Big, Big Plans’ was written specifically for the occasion, with romantic lyrics including “Asked her mama for permission and her daddy for her hand” and “I’m down on one knee, I guess she finally figured out I’m gonna ask her to marry me.”
The couple married at a fall wedding just four months after the proposal. With the wedding taking place in Nashville, the event proved to be an emotional occasion for Lane, who explains “I didn’t even get to finish [the vows] because I had already gotten choked up a little bit and then I regained composure and then started losing it again.”
After their romantic day, the couple ended the celebrations in a very down to earth manner. “I ended the night eating Shake Shack in bed,” Bushnell laughs.
