Rukmani drops fierce sultry R&B single and music video titled "So Fine" featuring Duduboy

Fierce, sexy, and sultry, Rukmani is giving all the vibes in her new R&B single, titled “So Fine”, which features Duduboy. Alongside the release of this single is an accompanying music video, which only emphasises the sensual vibes coming from the track as well as the artists. This acts as the follow-up to Rukmani’s feature on 4Runna’s single “Sugar N Spice” as well as her previous single “Gateway Drug” which was the first single from her forthcoming debut EP, titled “Angel On The Run”; and Duduboy’s appearance as a collaborating artist on the afrobeatsglobal track “Baby” which featured Mayhem and was a part of the afrobeatsglobal EP “Sonidos Colectivo”, prior to that, his only other release is his 2020 debut single “Julie”.

Rukmani, real name Uduogie Sonia Omosigho, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter of Indian heritage, who emerged from the vibrant city of Port Harcourt, where her passion for music blossomed at a young age within the walls of her local church. Despite facing challenging circumstances, she found solace in music, using it as a medium to convey her emotions and navigate life’s obstacles. Now residing in Lagos, Rukmani is dedicated to pursuing her dreams and using her music to inspire others to transform their pain into something extraordinary. Her heartfelt compositions reflect her life experiences, with each note and lyric infused with authenticity and depth. Rukmani’s musical style knows no bounds, drawing influences from a diverse range of genres and artists. She effortlessly weaves elements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, alternative, and Afro-beats into her work, always maintaining her unique flair and showcasing her remarkable vocal prowess. As she ventures into the industry, Rukmani is poised to captivate audiences with her emotive and honest artistry, leaving an indelible mark on the music world.

As for Duduboy, real name Babatomiwa Dudubo, not a whole lot is known about him, he released an epic single in 2020, titled “Julie” which was later followed up with an awesome music video for it. He has worked with the likes of Burna Boy and H.E.R., in the past. He’s clearly an exciting rising star that is beyond talented if this single and music video is anything to go by. Vocally deep and emotional, he knows exactly how to hit it home to the listeners. He’s definitely someone to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Speaking about the inspiration behind “So Fine”, and how the song came about, Rukmani said: “I was going through a rough patch, struggling with the realities of life. The person who I thought cared for me had too many demons of his own, and I couldn’t confide in him about my problems. I refused to let my problems affect me, despite the depression I was feeling. One night, Duduboy played me a sick beat, and I felt the urge to let it all go, it felt like the only way to let my emotions out. So, I popped open a bottle of wine, and before I knew it, ‘So Fine’ was born.”

Written by Babatomiwa Dudubo and Uduogie Sonia Omosigho, with Duduboy producing the track, “So Fine” is a passionate and seductive R&B track that vibes so hard that the artists manage to effectively allure the listeners in from the get-go. Submersing Rukmani’s incredible vocals around thriving bossa nova strings and awesome percussion drums, “So Fine” has a sensual energy that we simply adore. Raspy vocals from Rukmani, sending sexy signals to her loved one, she impresses with an incredible falsetto and luscious vocal runs, but it’s the harmonies when Duduboy joins in with her lines that really hits the spot! Duduboy jumps in for the second verse, showcasing his R&B flow and emotive vocal delivery. Lyrically, “So Fine” sees the artists delve into assuring their partners that they are stunning both inside and out, even when they’re both struggling mentally. Relationships are hard, and it does really take two to make it work, especially when mental health decides to rear its ugly head, but Rukmani and Duduboy give back hard, with fierce, inviting R&B vocals and fired-up lyrics, “So Fine” just simply is filled with heart.

As for the music video, which has been directed by Clarence Peters, it effortlessly showcases black beauty and black love in every single way. From Rukmani wearing that firey orange dress in the dark opening scene, to her wading in water in a gorgeous gold dress as black men are spaced out around her, shirtless. We also see her in a straw-like outfit in a scene where there are many straw baskets and a few black women around her. We soon end up in the forest where Duduboy is and he’s simply holding and hugging Rukmani for his verse while half-naked men and women are in the background, celebrating the beauty of black people and we love that the camera pans to these couples who also lip-sync to the song. Duduboy brings loving energy from the get-go, and gosh does it look like he gives the best hugs! This simple but effective scene encapsulates beauty being both inside and out, and that sometimes being held might be the thing a partner might need most. Epic, beautiful, stunning, and gorgeous, this music video makes a massive statement and we’re totally here for it!
